Joseph Booker, Sr., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert and Fannie Booker, was born on July 6, 1953. On July 9, 2019, Joseph was called to be with his heavenly father.
Joseph received his education and graduated from the Baltimore City Public School System. In 1973, he enlisted in the U.S. Armed Forces and received an honorable discharge after serving two years for his country.
Joseph married Flora Denise Armstrong in 1985 and from this union a daughter was born.
Joseph was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years before retiring in 2009. Upon retiring, he enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
“Pop Pop” or “Joe” as he was affectionately called, had a very generous and giving nature. He always had a gadget or device to match any heart’s desire. He enjoyed going to the Flea Market and shooting pool. He had a unique and passionate love for fish and often shopped for them and their necessary accessories.
Joseph was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret “Sissy” and Eloise; brother, William ”Solo” and uncle, William “Uncle B”.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17 at 10 a.m. in Spread the Word Cathedral, 4100 Frankford Avenue Baltimore, MD 21206. Interment Garrison Forest Veteran's Cemetery.
