Genevieve Nixon Williams, age 46, born Genevieve Kathleen Nixon on 14 February 1978 in Houston, Texas left her earthly body on 30 June 2024, after fighting a rare and aggressive ovarian cancer. She spent her final days surrounded by her loving friends and family, giving them all one last version of her patented long goodbyes.
She leaves her husband Michael Jordan Williams, daughter Risdyn Kathleen Williams (6), and son Jeremy Forest Williams (4), in Baltimore, Maryland. Genevieve is survived by her loving parents Barbara Ellen Nixon and Jeffrey Jay Nixon of Smithville, Texas, and her brother John Andrew Nixon of Los Angeles, California.
Born and raised in the Lone Star State, she attended Welch Middle School and Bellaire High School in Houston, before attending the University of Texas in Austin where she majored in Government. After college, Genevieve’s desire to help others and champion the rights of women and girls took her to West Africa where she volunteered, distributing AIDS prevention information to the people of Ghana.
Moving back stateside, she worked at the American Red Cross, assisting youth and college students in Washington, DC. She then took an unexpected hiatus to overcome uterine cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. After recovering, she moved back East to Baltimore, MD to earn a double degree: Master of Public Health from the Bloomberg School of Public Health & Master of Business Administration from the Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University. Following her education, Genevieve settled down in Baltimore where she proudly worked for fifteen years as Program Manager for the Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute.
One of Genevieve’s favorite moments was experiencing awe as she witnessed a corona aurora with Michael in Iceland, viewing the Northern Lights. She loved spending time outdoors hiking. Genevieve delighted in music, enjoying a wide variety of songs, from Motown to Snatam Kaur. She felt most alive when she was dancing, whether it was at a wedding, a party, or just grooving around the house. The thing that brought her the most joy in her life were her two children, Risdyn and Jeremy. Genevieve and Michael lived their mantra to the fullest: “you never run out of love!”
Everywhere she went, she touched the lives of those around her, changing the world in many small, but very significant ways.
Genevieve will most miss being with her children, family, friends, and co-workers. And we all will miss her too…
