John Charles Corr, widely known as “Jack”, was born on May 17, 1935 in Cambridge, MA. He departed this life on February 8, 2020.
After completing high school, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon completion of his enlistment, he attended college at University of Massachusetts, graduating with a degree in accounting. A CPA, Jack was employed as an auditor/financial analyst with the federal government for more than three decades ending his career at the Maritime Administration.
Jack served as a high school baseball umpire for more than twenty-five years. He was elected to Life Membership in the Metropolitan Baseball Umpires Association in 1998. Jack also enjoyed playing golf and poker, both with modest success. He was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Glenwood, MD where he served on the Vestry and Financial Committees.
Jack is survived by his wife Linda; his children, Diane (Paul), Jeff and Pam; grandchildren, Christina (Daylon), Justin and Krissy (Dave); great grandchildren, Hayden, Jack Scott, Ellie and Kenna; sisters Carol Scheufele and Rita (Bob) Grabbe and brother Lawrence Corr. He was predeceased by two grandsons, Alex and Ryan and brothers Robert and Ronald.
The funeral will be held at St Andrew’s Episcopal Union Chapel, on the corner of Union Chapel Rd. and Rt. 97, Glenwood, Md. 21738 on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. (www.standrewsglenwood.org) Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the St. Andrew’s Parish House, 2892 Rt. 97, Glenwood, MD 21738.
