Madeline Marzullo (nee Lenihan) passed away on April 20, 2020. Madeline was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother survived by her children Michael (Anne), Gregory (Debbie) and Susan (Kevin) Shaffer and son-in-law William Deveaney (Wendy). Grandchildren Diana Ezzell, Andrea (Curt) Lane, Adam (Kim) Deveaney, Christina (Eshawn) Rawlley, Stephen Deveaney, Graham and Ethan Shaffer, Kylee Marzullo, Teresa Petrecca (Mike), Rudy Ronda, and Felix Ronda (Lise), and nine great grandchildren. Dear aunt of Kevin and Margaret McManus, Kathy Lenihan and Peggy Gath. She is predeceased by her husband, Alphonso, daughter Eileen Deveaney, sister Dorothy Lombardi and brother William Lenihan.
Born in her beloved Boston in 1922, Madeline graduated from Somerville H.S. and Salem University. After meeting her husband on a graduation trip to NYC, Madeline moved to Baltimore and began her teaching career at Franklin H.S. in Reisterstown. Over the years, she also taught for Carroll County Public schools and the Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore. Madeline spent the last 10 years of her career as assistant to the Development Director at Garrison Forest School where she was also known to fill in as a middle school math teacher. She lived in Reisterstown for over 40 year but moved to Mercy Ridge Retirement Community in 2001 as one of their first residents.
Aside from her family and career, Madeline was an accomplished pianist and singer. She studied under Reynaldo Reyes while working at Garrison Forest and sang in the chorus at Mercy Ridge for over ten years. She was a talented seamstress, knitter and crocheter and enjoyed a good game of cards taking up bridge later in life. She was a Meals on Wheels Volunteer, Chair of the Mercy Ridge Scholarship Committee and member of the Mercy Ridge Welcome Committee.
