Robert Pahr Jr. Obituary

On January 6th, 2026, Robert W. Pahr Jr., retired lawyer, beloved husband of the late Doris H. Pahr (nee Anderson), and loving Father to Robert III (Debbie), Penny Keenan (Matthew), Gary (Mary), Patrick (Robin) and Cheryl Bunk (the late James), passed away peacefully at 103.  Bob attended the former St. Edward’s Catholic elementary school in West Baltimore and Loyola High School on Charles Street.  After high school, he studied Journalism at the University of Baltimore and worked as a stenographer for the Western Maryland Railway Company.  Following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and entered active duty in December 1942.  After completing Signal Corps Basic Training and some MOS training, he was assigned to the Counter Intelligence Corp (CIC) and served overseas as an undercover agent/investigator, primarily in North Africa, after it was recaptured from the Germans.  After the war, he continued working for the Western Maryland Railway Company and attended night school at the University of Maryland where he earned his law degree.  After earning his law degree in 1951, he went to work for the Travelers Insurance Company as a lawyer and claims agent, and retired from the company in December 1986.
He and his wife, Doris, raised their family in the Parkville/Carney area of Baltimore County where he served several years as president of the Woodcroft Civic Association and the Woodcroft Swim Club.  When his 5 children attended the John Carroll School in Bel Air, he and Doris were dedicated volunteers for many of the school’s athletic and weekend activities.  After his 5 children were grown, he and Doris went on a few memorable cruises and visited several countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America including Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Italy, Egypt, and Brazil.  He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus, Past Grand Knight of Bishop Sebastian Council #5058 in Parkville, and Past Faithful Navigator of Archbishop Francis P. Keough Assembly.  Up until his last few years, he was very active with the Knights and with his home parish, St. Ursula Church in Parkville.  He is survived by brother-in-law Leon Przybylski, sister-in-law Susan Manning, his 5 children, 12 grandchildren (Adam, Kenny, Megan, Timothy, Scott, Ryan, Julie, William, Rachel, Martin, Christopher, and Austin), 16 great grandchildren (Savannah, Brian, Daniel, Chloe, Carly, Aubrey, Caleb, Everly, Cody, Kelsey, Christian, Kinsley, Corey, Charlie, Cassidy, and Bennett), and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 27th from 4 to 7 pm at the family owned Marzullo Funeral Chapel on Harford Road.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 28th at 11 am at St. Ursula Church in Parkville.  Interment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium.
